I'm now following recommended acclimatization guidelines which define how high you can climb each day. Today is a mandatory rest day at 12,000 feet. "Remember, altitude kills" is not nearly as funny as "Remember, cotton kills". So far I feel fine at altitude, I hope that continues.
I'm at 12,000 feet, but rather than being cold, today was nice sunny and warm. I finished catching up on my writing and did some shopping. I should be fully prepared for the next 3 weeks with a full case of snickers.
My original goal from years ago, when I knew nothing of Nepal, was to visit Everest base camp. From base camp you can see no mountains, just the nuts (my idols?) trying to climb them. I still want to visit base camp, but I also want to climb Chukung Ri, Kala Pattar and Gokyo Ri. Each of these hills are about 18,000 feet.
This is probably the last time that I'll be on the internet before Kathmandu. Then I'll let you know how this adventure concluded.
